After the worldwide success of Squid Game, a new Korean series begins to emerge. My Name will keep you going.

My Name is the new hit series on Netflix. With a strong female character, My Name has something to make you want to watch its 8 episodes on Netflix. We follow Yoon Ji-woo, a young woman who goes to see her father, a bandit wanted by the police, to be murdered in front of her eyes without being able to do anything. From this event, only one thing will animate Yoon Ji-woo: revenge. It was then that she embarked on a long preparation alongside Choi Moo-jin, her father’s best friend, in order to be able to master the art of combat and avenge her father. After a few years of preparation, Yoon Ji-woo infiltrates the Narcotics Squad to find clues about his father’s death.

The main actress Han So-hee had an intense physical preparation, she wanted to be as credible as possible in her role. For GMA Network, she claims to have spent about three months learning and working the action scenes with her bare hands and with knives. She also adds that she was very inspired by Charlize Theron in Atomic Blonde for scenes where she had to face a lot of enemies at the same time. On top of all that, Han So-hee gained ten pounds of muscle to prepare himself and be believable. A high level preparation which convinced the public.

Korean drama in vogue

After the enormous success of Squid Game, which broke a planetary record on Netflix, My Name is building on the success of previous Korean productions. In recent years, Korean films and series have attracted a wider audience. It must be said that the dramas succeed rather well in Korea, the country excels in this genre. Between Parasite, Squid Game, Last Train To Busan and now My Name, Korea appeals in drama and dark productions. A new Netflix success which confirms, once again, that the platform has bet well by investing even more in feature films and Korean series.
