The new version of the Nintendo Switch, the Switch OLED, was released just a few days ago. What are the good reasons to get one if you already have the classic Switch or if you are a newcomer?
If the new OLED Switch released last Friday is not necessarily the upgrade that everyone was waiting for when we talked a lot about Switch Pro rumors (and in particular more powerful hardware, which can support 4K), it does not. Nevertheless, it is an improvement over the classic model released more than 4 years ago. So, as long as you don’t have a Switch yet or yours is getting a bit old, there are a whole lot of valid reasons to start buying this new model.
This is the main selling point for this new version of the Switch: not only is the screen on offer larger, but it also benefits from OLED technology, which provides better color contrast. And the difference once the console is in hand is quite noticeable: it will be difficult to switch back to a classic model after trying the OLED …
The new Nintendo Switch OLED benefits from a notable additional strength compared to the Classic Switch. Already, the Joy-Con fit perfectly on the portable screen of the console. Then, the whole thing seems much more premium when handling, especially with respect to the support based on the back of the console, much more practical than in the past.
No more internal storage
The other good news, from a practical point of view, is that this new version benefits from double the internal storage compared to the classic Switch, which only offered 32 GB. Now, with 64 GB, you can already have a nice little catalog on your console without having to invest in a micro-SD card (even if we still recommend doing so so as not to get stuck).
Nintendo Switch users in portable mode know: Generally speaking, it’s always best to have a pair of headphones nearby to play your console, as the sound from the built-in speakers is not very good. This is something that has been greatly improved by Nintendo for this new version of the console, which benefits from much better sound quality.
The dock was also entitled to its changes
In addition to a design change allowing easier passage of cables at the back of the dock, the latter also benefits from rather pleasant new features, such as adding an Ethernet port to enjoy a better internet connection. It was time !
