This mystery within the famous series finally explained!

In Westeros, incestuous relationships are not viewed the same way depending on which clan holds the throne. On the one hand, there is the Lannister family, whose “secret” romance between Cersei (Lena headey) and Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, disappointed with his character’s death in Season 8) is prone to mockery and shame. On the other side, there is the Targaryen family, whose members did not deprive themselves of marrying siblings for the duration of their reign! How to explain that the house of the Dragon could have committed this sin repeatedly for 300 years without suffering the consequences, unlike that of the Lion? It all started when Aegon conquered Westeros by bringing with him his sisters and wives, Visenya and Rhaenys, to ensure that his bloodline remained “pure”.

Without that, there was no way he could continue to control the dragons (whose surprising origins of screams can be found right here) and ensure the survival of the Valyrian race. Moreover, to know the surprising origins of the cries uttered by the dragons of Daenerys in Game Of Thrones, it’s right here. Even if incest was not accepted, he had imposed it thanks to his power, and no one had the right to criticize this practice on pain of being killed! And although the king agreed with the Great Septon to stop this outdated custom over time, this pact did not last long, as his son Aenys married his two children together. This sparked the wrath of the Faith of the Seven, however defeated, and this tradition continued until the House of the Dragon was all but wiped out at the time of the rebellion which saw Robert Baratheon ascend to the throne. From there, bye-bye incest, including for Jaime and Cersei! Bad luck for them …
