Final Fantasy XVI has officially gone gold Follow us Join our community!

After a relatively quiet start to the year for Sony, things are slowly but surely starting to pick up speed for the Japanese firm, which will be welcoming new and highly anticipated titles in the coming months. After Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores next month, the PS5 will indeed welcome a new exclusive of weight with Final Fantasy XVI, which has not failed to make people talk about it in recent weeks. And today, Square-Enix has excellent news for us about him.

Final Fantasy XVI has officially gone gold

“Final Fantasy XVI has gone gold” revealed the studio on its social media. In other words, three months before its official release, the development of the game is now complete. Beyond meaning that there should – theoretically – be no carryover into the future, this will therefore above all allow the teams to spend the next few weeks fine-tuning the result in order to offer players an experience that truly lives up to their expectations. And we can say that there are many expectations vis-à-vis this new opus.

Fortunately, if we trust the first previews that fell on it, Final Fantasy XVI seems on track to satisfy fans of the license. Lately, Square Enix has not hesitated to reveal many additional elements about it, whether by offering us a glimpse of its world, a taste of its lifespan or even information on how which it will harness the power of the PS5. Moreover, the studio has confirmed that a demo will see the light of day in the weeks leading up to its release.

As a reminder, Final Fantasy XVI is expected on June 22, 2023 exclusively on PS5.

Fallout 4 is getting a big update on PS5, Xbox Series and PC Follow us Join our community!

The announcement fell within the framework of 25 years of Falloutcelebrated this month by Bethesda with various events and giveaways on the menu. Like so many others, Fallout 4 will also be entitled to its “next-gen” patch on PS5 and Xbox Series, not to mention PCs.

Fallout 4 soon optimized on PS5, Xbox Series and PC

Expected sometime in 2023, this free optimization update for Fallout 4 will feature to improve the fluidity (performance mode) or to push the definition in 4K (quality mode). And even though the game was released almost seven years ago, the patch will take advantage of it to fix some bugs and bring bonus content to the Creation Club. For the moment, no more details.

We take advantage of this announcement to point out that Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition is free right now on the Epic Games Store, until Thursday, October 27 at 5 p.m. Meanwhile, Prime Gaming subscribers can grab a copy of Fallout 76 until November 1, while Fallout New Vegas will be part of the “free” games next month.

For those who are desperately waiting Fallout 5, sorry to calm your enthusiasm, but you will have to be very (very) patient. Bethesda plans to release Starfield first (in the first half of 2023) before focusing on The Elder Scrolls VI, then looking into a new Fallout.

One Piece Odyssey: More video gameplay for the JRPG adaptation Follow us Join our community!

We had already had a little glimpse of Alabasta in a short teaser unveiled last week: for the sake of fan service absolute, this ILCA, Inc. production is sure to recount great moments from the original manga in great flashbacks. These dives into the memories of the Straw Hat crew will allow Luffy and consorts to rediscover their forgotten skills, a perfect script pirouette to justify the progression of the characters, in the purest tradition of the JRPG. bandai namco finally shows something concrete with a new video gameplay in the streets of this city in the middle of the desert, with as much exploration as combat sequences.

Treasure Chests and Bad Friends in Alabasta in One Piece Odyssey

Contrary to the usual generalized fighting adaptations, One Piece Odyssey brings the work of Eiichiro Oda into the mold of the JRPG with turn-based confrontations. A relatively classic system, with different types of attack (strength, speed, technique) depending on the appetite of the characters. However, a few new features shake up this monotonous approach: the division of combat zones, forcing high-risk duels, but also “Staging” moments boosting the skills of our protagonists once certain criteria have been met.

JRPGs aren’t all about combat; there are also a host of treasure chests full of junk oddly placed here and there beyond any sense of logic. It will be necessary to rely on the skills of each member of the team to be able to make their way through these rural settings: Chopper will be able to sneak through small tunnels thanks to its small size, for example. These moments of strolling in the overworld will also be an opportunity to develop the synergy between the different members of the crew, punctuating these sequences with short lines of impromptu dialogue – enough to brush the fan in the direction of the hair with the cast dubbing in the original language, all subtitled in French. One Piece Odyssey is set for release on January 13, 2023 on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

PS Plus: no more expiration date for games? Follow us Join our community!

PS Plus: soon the end of the expiration dates?

PS Plus

Sony has reportedly quietly removed some game expiration dates which would be on the PS Plus currently. Indeed, if we follow the logic of Sony, a date should appear to indicate the withdrawal of the game at the beginning of the following month. However, they are now listed in a tab named “Last Chance to Play” where no expiration date is given. We can take for example the Rez Infinite case whose game has been moved to this “Last Chance to Play” tab but which no longer has an expiration date.

Concern ? This means that we do not know until when we could play it. And this poses a major problem if it becomes widespread. Subscribers have no information regarding until when they can play. This can be seen as a lack of transparency. This may encourage them to turn to other providers such as Xbox with its Game Pass.

Otherwise, Xbox is being transparent about the end of the availability of games on its service. Obviously, this gives a game perspective to subscribers and allows them to prioritize or not certain types of games. With regard to subscription prices, this could be taken very badly by the Playstation community whose pill is still struggling to pass with the increase in PS5s.

Simple bug or voluntary act on the part of sony ? We hope to have a little more clarification in the days to come.

Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection: Worst PlayStation game launch on PC? Follow us Join our community!

After Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone, God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man, the Uncharted saga has just made its grand debut on PC. The compilation Legacy of Thieves Collection, which brings together Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy, landed on Steam and the Epic Games Store last Wednesday for a price of €49.99. But unlike other productions PlayStation Studiosit does not seem to unleash the crowds.

Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection, a timid launch on PC

As indicated by the database SteamDBUncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection recorded a peak of “only” 10,851 concurrent players on Steam, and it’s not even in the top 100 most played games on the platform. In comparison, Days Gone (27,450), Horizon Zero Dawn (56,557), Marvel’s Spider-Man (66,436), and God of War (73,529) did much better on their respective releases.

A launch that seems disappointing, but that does not seem to cool Naughty Dog, determined to continue releasing PC games in the future. Here’s what the studio said on the PS Blog:

The PC debut of the Uncharted series is both exciting and instructive. This is an opportunity for us to leverage the lessons learned from porting our games to a new platform, and the expectations and opportunities that come with it. Thanks to everything we’ve learned alongside our partners at Iron Galaxy, we’re more excited than ever to write the future of Naughty Dog games on PC (…) We look forward to bringing The Last of Us Part I to PC very soon and we believe that, PC development in no way undermines PlayStation 5’s place as the platform of choice, adding this new skill to the way we develop our games will continue to benefit our team in the long run..

While waiting to discover a precise release date for The Last of Us Part I on PC, it’s Sackboy A Big Adventure which will be invited to the platform this Thursday, October 27, followed by Spider-Man Miles Morales on November 18.

God of War Ragnarök: no PS4 restrictions Follow us Join our community!

While some developers complain about the power of the Xbox Series S, the PS4 version of God of War Ragnarök did not impact the development of the game.

God of War Ragnarok: No PS4 Restrictions

In an interview with our colleagues from the Eurogamer media, animation director Bruno Velazquez wanted to reaffirm the quality of this famous PS4 version. He asserts that, from the outset, this title was planned for PS4 to support the fanbase who had enjoyed the first opus on this same platform.

What’s unique about this game is that because we originally planned to make the best PS4 version. So everything we set out to do, we were able to do on PS4. Because of that, we didn’t really feel like we were limited in any way, because all the goals we set for ourselves, we were able to achieve. The PS5 just made the game better. So because that was our philosophy, we never really felt limited by the goals we set for ourselves.

As a reminder, the PS5 version of God of War Ragnarok will even suggest four different display modes with 4K and 120 FPS notably. The game will be available from November 9 on PS4 and PS5 exclusively. You can also find our guide to the different editions of the game, as well as our preview!

Preview of The Devil in Me: On the way to the best of Dark Pictures? Follow us Join our community!

It has become the little ritual of Supermassive Games since the launch of Man of Medan in 2019: at the end of each year its new episode of The Dark Pictures. And it is not because we have already had the right to The Quarry last June that the studio intends to break this tradition. Scheduled for November 18, the release of The Devil in Me is now fast approaching. And after being treated to a video presentation of the game in August, Bandai Namco offered us the opportunity to wander between the walls of the Castle of Murders during a preview session of about an hour and a half. What reinforce our first impressions of this new opus? Certainly.

Team spirit

Beginning shortly after the arrival of the Lonnit Entertainment team at the Granthem Du’Met hotel, this demo allowed us to follow in turn the different characters at the heart of this new adventure, namely Charlie, Erin , Mark, Kate and Jamie. And if there is one thing that quickly marked us, it is the quality of writing that this episode seems to benefit from. Rather talkative, The Devil in Me manages to depict with a certain authenticity the relationship between the members of the team, whose personality is easily identified.. The dialogues are well written, some situations are not lacking in humor and as it stands, everything suggests that we could be dealing with the most endearing cast of the anthology so far.

The Devil in Me

Having taken the time to do the demo twice, we also saw that our choices had, from the start of the adventure, a certain impact on the course of events. For example, some scenes took a very different turn depending on the relationship of the characters, which could then lead to new lines or dialogue options.. Similarly, while we didn’t lose anyone in our first playthrough, simply choosing a different choice in the second resulted in the death of one of them. More than ever, therefore, their destiny seems to be hanging by a thread and despite certain appearances, things can quickly degenerate.

A palpable tension

The speed at which the situation is changing within the walls of the hotel was also one of the other nice surprises of this preview. If The Devil in Me takes the time to quietly set the mood at the beginning, we still witness a meteoric escalation of the tension by exploring the places, where the unease is really palpable.. The influence of movie greats like Saw, The Shining and Friday the 13th is obvious, but it works like a charm. The corridors of the hotel, in addition to being labyrinthine, sometimes change layout to better confuse us while the screamers, often predictable in The Dark Pictures, are extremely well placed here. Result: we jumped more than once… and we loved it!

The Devil in Me

It must also be said that the game is largely helped by its technique, which looks much more surprising than we imagined. For example, while we had some doubts about the characters’ facial expressions during our previous preview, we finally have to admit that we were very surprised by their finesse in this demo. As for the environments, in addition to being of great beauty, they are simply sublimated by the quality of the lighting, which contributes more than ever to immersing us in a deliciously gloomy atmosphere.. Note that we did the demo on a PC equipped with a GTX 1070 with 8 GB of RAM, and that we were able to run the game in Ultra without encountering the slightest problem.

A more extensive exploration

Finally, this demo was an opportunity for us to experiment with the new gameplay features of this opus, which will offer the most extensive game mechanics we have seen in a Supermassive to date. So, might as well warn you right away: there is obviously nothing that reinvents the wheel. But these few additions are still very pleasant for adventure seekers. The simple fact of being able to climb a ladder, move objects to scale heights, cross precipices or even run to go faster, for example, makes exploration more dynamic, while the ability for each character to use custom objects seems very interesting. It remains to be seen if all this will be exploited with ingenuity over the course of the adventure.

The Devil in Me
We liked:
  • The atmosphere, definitely mastered
  • The cast, endearing and well written
  • Visually very successful
We didn’t like:
  • A few small bugs still present

Conclusion

This second approach to The Devil in Me, which took place controller in hand this time, therefore really confirmed our first impressions. As it stands, everything suggests that this fourth episode could represent the high point of the first season of The Dark Pictures which, it is true, has not always fully succeeded in convincing the public. But with a more endearing cast, more extensive gameplay and above all, a more controlled atmosphere than ever, this new opus could finally succeed in getting everyone to agree. Answer November 18, 2022 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Apex Legends: discover the new Shattered Moon map Follow us Join our community!

After presenting its 23rd Legend, Catalyst, through its traditional story trailer, here isApex Legends officially unveils its 5th map. Named Broken Moon, it takes place on Cleo, moon of the planet Boreas. Lovers of lore will remember that she was pulverized by a comet when Seer was born. A prophetic coincidence according to the inhabitants. The government of Boreas seeks to terraform Cleo to stabilize her so that she doesn’t crumble into a meteor shower. Trapped in a giant stasis net, it was sold back to the Syndicate as an Apex Games arena to fund its reconstruction. It results a motley cardbetween greenery, desert and residential areas.

Broken Moon: a map that aims for dynamism

Broken moon is crossed from side to side by rails, kinds of ziplines on steroids. They make it possible to speed up rotations between points of interest, but are very predictable, because their trajectory is fixed. Respawn hopes to promote mid-game clashes, which were too sporadic on their previous map. Storm area. More generally, the developer wishes regulate the rhythm of matches, encouraging players to land on the outer rim before progressing inside. Rails will add spice in there.

Broken Moon map in Apex Legends

The terraformed points of interest are very bucolic

About points of interestknow that they will be 16 in number. A small amount compensated by the size of the zones, much larger than usual. This should allow teams to land and find gear without breaking a sweat before hostilities begin. It should still densify the middle of the game, with, on average, more teams still alive, and better armed. Don’t worry if you like narrow cutthroats: a handful of cramped points of interest will satisfy the twirling maniacs.

Shattered Moon will be playable as soon as Eclipse Season 15 is released. You can find the exhaustive description of its points of interest on the official blog (in English). At the same time, we are still waiting for more information on the skills of Catalyst, the next Legend to join the ranks.
