Big sun and heat wave, melty gives you a detailed account of what happened at We Love Green, on Saturday June 1, 2019.
It is at the Bois de Vincennes that We Love Green 2019 takes place again this year. For this edition, melty has made the crazy bet to go and see as many artists as possible and not to confine themselves to the headliners. Because yes, We Love Green did not do things by half by inviting the few most influential French-speaking artists of the moment as we presented them to you in our playlist of the week devoted to the festival. We start our first day with YAK, including the second album Pursuit of Momentary Happiness has been looping since its release. Screaming guitars under a blazing sun, the British band opened the ball in style before a conquered Parisian audience.
We then head to the Prairie where Aya Nakamura and his dancers come on the scene. A true phenomenon, the singer plays in front of an impressive human tide at 4.30 p.m. Direction the opposite of the festival, at La Clairière, where the mad IDLES are already delivering one of the most powerful lives of this edition. Punk is not dead, and IDLES demonstrates well. On the way to see Rex Orange County, we stop for a moment to take advantage of the good mood of Calypso Rose. Smiling, the granny shines brightly in front of a loving crowd. Columbine is probably one of the sensations of this summer and We Love Green has understood this well. Real surprise for festival-goers who did not expect to take an urban slap at 6 p.m.

Between We Love Green and Metronomy, it’s a great love story that goes back to the first edition of the festival. No wonder they are back to present their new songs after years of absence. It is 9:30 p.m. Christine and The Queens go on stage for a magnificent concert: dance and song are there to the delight of festival-goers. Meanwhile, the collective 13Block balance their sharp flow on the Think Thank stage, which we listen to quickly before going to La Clairière where one of the concerts we have been waiting for the most begins. It is FKA Twigs, the multi-talented artist, who then gives an impressive show.
It is more than 45 minutes late that Booba lands on the main stage. Festival-goers are tired and angry and did not hesitate to drop a few “Kaaris! Kaaris!”. Anyway, Booba who had prepared his We Love Green 2019 with the Arc-en-ciel Challenge still performed in front of thousands of fans who came just for him. In addition to being a musical meeting, We Love Green allows us to attend ecological conferences highlighting the ecological and civil problems of our society. The comparison to the American giant Coachella is inevitable compared to artistic installations throughout the festival grounds: woman-bird in a cage, mirror balls and flags … We Love Green is a colorful festival, worn on green . See you tomorrow to find out what we did on Sunday, June 2, 2019.
