Yesterday, we revealed the cast of the reboot of Prince of Bel Air, the cult series of the 1990s worn by Will Smith. Today, it is the turn of an emblematic film of the same decade to have a makeover since, according to Variety, Warner Bros. would like to offer a remake to Bodyguard. Worn by Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, the singer’s romance with her bodyguard was a resounding success when it was released in 1992. Cradled by the notes I Will Always Love You, their romance like this song has since become cult. It is therefore not surprising that the studios today wanted to give a new lease of life to this love story.
According to the first information gathered by the American media, Matthew López would have been chosen to write the screenplay, the Warner wishing to produce a “reinvention” from the original film. Lawrence Kasdan, who wrote the script for the first feature film, will serve as executive producer on the remake. It remains to be seen, however, who will slip into the skin of Rachel Marron and Frank Farmer, the studios having the heavy task of recreating the alchemy of the first part. If rumors have evoked the return of Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga on the big screen after A Star is Born, other speculations have also suggested the names of Cardi B and Channing Tatum. Finally, note that for the moment the remake of Bodyguard lacks an official release date.
